Football Academy
The football academy of FC Twente focuses on raising youthful potential players in the east of the Netherlands. In 2006 FC Twente and Heracles Almelo started with a cooperation and since 2009 the football academy expanded with Go Ahead Eagles as a third team. The football academy is located at the training complex in Hengelo.
The goal of the football academy is to raise the talented youthful players to professionals. With this, the club tries to add quality to the football in the east of the Netherlands. Apart from the sport, the education of the youth players is important. The players get intensive support with their studies and can therefore perfectly combine the studies and the football. The idea should always be that education should have the upper hand over football at all times, not every youth player becomes a professional and should then be able to fall back on a good education.
FC Twente's youth academy is divided up into different categories according to age. The A1 (highest youth team for players aged 16-18) plays in the national Eredivisie for youth teams. Along with the A1 there are six youth teams in age categories B (14-16), C (12-14) and D (10-12). Each of these categories is composed of two teams with around 18 youth players. Michel Jansen is the Head of Training of the Football Academy.
