Ronnie Stam to Wigan Athletic

Ronnie Stam will make an immediate transfer to Wigan Athletic. The 26-year old defender signed a contract for three seasons for the Premier League club. Stam, who came to FC Twente from NAC Breda two seasons ago, played 57 league matches and scored two goals.Chairman Joop Munsterman: 'Ronnie has gotten the chance over the last two seasons to develop himself as a footballer at FC Twente. He took this chance very well and was in the team that became champion of Holland last year. Due to his good performances he also received a call up for a friendly match with the national team of Holland. Ronnie informed us about the fact he wanted to move to a club outside of Holland and Wigan was prepared to pay the sum we expected.'
